Heath Ledger appeared as The Joker in 2008’s The Dark Knight. The movie scored critical and commercial success with Christopher Nolan’s novel approach to present these characters. Heath Ledger died shortly before the movie was to be released. His performance, before and after his death, had created lot of buzz amongst the movie lovers.
When the movie came out he excelled in his role and won the Academy Award for Best Actor in Supporting Role (awarded posthumously). If you have not watched this excellent movie then you have missed a lot as Heath Ledger is not to be missed as The Joker.
How can we miss high profile actor Jack Nicholson who played the role of The Joker in Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989. The movie was a commercial success with Jack Nicholson winning lots of appreciation as The Joker. The intensity he portrayed in his role was tremendous.
Jack accepted the role under his own terms that included his share in box office profits, high salary and a shooting schedule of his own choice. Having Jack on board paid off well to the producers and to the studio as Batman set many numerous records and made over $400m at the box office.
Cesar Romero was The Joker who will never be forgotten because of his sheer portrayal of the character in a most significant way. He made people to hate him with his performance.
It is said in the industry that Cesar Romero completely refused to shave his mustache off for the sake of the character due to which the white paint was heavily applied on his face each time he was to appear in front of the camera for his shots.
Romero played The Joker role in several episodes of Batman (TV series) and in a Batman film (1966) as well and his classic performance remains a landmark in the line of comic characters.
