RGV To Make Another Sarkar This Year

RGV has recently announced the sequel of Sarkar. The movie will be another crime/drama by Ram Gopal Verma whose star cast is yet to be finalized.

The first movie, Sarkar, was released in 2005 and the lead role was played by Amitabh Bachchan who gave an excellent performance. The movie also starred Abhishek Bachchan who was also brilliant in the movie and received many awards for his performance. Sarkar was well received by critics and had a commercial success at the box office as well.

RGV made the second installment with the name of Sarkar Raj in 2008 that had Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing key roles in the movie. Sarkar Raj did not follow the footstep of its predecessor and received mixed reactions.

Now eight years later RGV has decided to go for third installment which remains unnamed at the moment and we are also not really sure whether or not the great Amitabh Bachchan will reprise his role. RGV will be releasing the first look of the movie on 26 August.

He also mentioned in the media that Sarkar 3 will have same intense script and settings but will not have any antagonist. It will be interesting to see how the traditions of Sarkar will be followed in this upcoming outing. It was also confirmed that Abishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will not appear in the announced sequel.

If you do not know RGV’s Sarkar has great deal of similarities with Hollywood’s all time classic The Godfather which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The legend Marlon Brando played the role of Godfather (Vito Corleone) and Al Pacino was seen as his son (Michael Corleone), similarly the roles played Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan respectively in Sarkar.

The Godfather was a blockbuster at the box office that was followed by The Godfather 2 which was another blockbuster at the box office. On the contrary, The Godfather 3 did not meet the same success level as the other two parts had.

RGV has rejected the views comparing Sarkar with Godfather in the past but we know for a fact that both movies’ scripts resemble each other and we also know that the filmmaker is famous for his silly comments in the media. During his 2007’s RGV Ki Aag, that was an unauthorized remake of Bollywood classic ‘Sholay’, the filmmaker rejected the views comparing the two movies that was followed by the legal backlash.

All the same, how entertaining Sarkar 3 will be we will have to wait for this.
